Museum To Go and Education Outreach Coordinator

The Canton Museum of Art is seeking a Museum To Go and Education Outreach Coordinator to join their team. This position will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing various Museum To Go and educational outreach programming. This is a dual full-time position (not exceeding 40hrs/week combined). 17.5 hours will be spent on Museum To Go activities. 17.5 hours per week will be spent on Education Outreach activities. Flexible Monday-Friday hybrid work schedule with time spent in the office and work-from-home. Occasional evenings/weekends according to event scheduling. This position is in the Education Department, and reports to the Education Director.
Compensation: $18 an hour plus benefits package
MUSEUM TO GO COORDINATOR DUTIES:

Research, plan, coordinate, implement and grow the MTG outreach program.

Bridge that gap between the classroom and the Museum experience through the implementation of an educational outreach program for Stark County 4th and 6th grade students while improving academic achievement and excellence.

Create three creative and original 4th and 6th grade arts-immersion and common core curriculum lesson plans utilizing works of art from the museum’s permanent collection incorporating a virtual tour and/or other interactive technology.

Work directly with a technology expert to help guide the creation of customized interactive technology for each lesson.

Create three scholarly educator packets that correlate with each MTG lesson.

Develop and utilize evaluation tools to measure, interpret, and analyze the outcomes of the MTG program.

Hire, train and schedule 1-4 professional educators to implement MTG lessons out into the schools.

Work directly with Stark County 4th grade and 6th grade educators and administrators to market the program, administer evaluation tools, and schedule MTG visits.

Continue to grow MTG participation and raise public awareness through publications, social media, participation in public events, and create displays of students’ artwork at the museum.

Work directly with the Development Department to assist in the development of materials to help secure future funding for the program as well as develop grant wrap-up information for current funders.

Order and organize MTG materials and keep an accurate budget of expenses.

Participate in CMA activities, events, meetings, and programs as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION OUTREACH COORDINATOR DUTIES:

Develop and implement educational content and programs both on-site and out into the community through informational booths, hands-on activities, art lessons, presentations, digital content, and other opportunities to educate the public about CMA exhibitions, tours, and museum programs.

Expand the reach of public awareness by cultivating new strategic partnerships and strengthening current collaborative relationships with schools and the community.

Strengthen partnerships with educators through programming, marketing, and events such as the Stark County High School Art Exhibit and Arts Educator of the Year Awards.

Research and program relevant speakers, artists, and instructors for educational programs and presentations.

Create educational virtual content on behalf of the education department.

Utilize evaluation tools to measure, interpret, and analyze the outcomes of education outreach activities and programs relative to strategic goals.

Collaborate across CMA departments for family days, School’s Out FREE Mondays, and private and public events at the museum and off-site locations.

Work with the Curatorial Department to develop content related to CMA’s permanent collection and exhibitions to create educational resources and lesson plans.

Work with the Marketing Department to develop marketing materials for educational programs, educators, and the community.

Work with the Development Department to create funding opportunities for future education outreach programming and grant reporting.

Work with Finance Department to ensure detailed financial records and budget.

Work with Education Department to assist with strategic planning and other programming as needed.
-
Participate in CMA activities, events, meetings, and programs as needed.

Perform all duties according to established CMA operating, safety, and quality policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Qualified candidates will possess a degree preferably in (Art Education, Museum Education, or Art History) or equivalent years of experience in the art museum or arts organization field.

At least one year experience in related art education, art museum, or arts organization field with teaching and/or presenting to groups required.

Creative individual with knowledge of planning, designing, and implementing innovative and exceptional art education content, lesson plans, and programming efforts.

Self-motivated with enthusiasm to try new things and stay abreast of current theories and practices in museum education and PreK-12 learning standards and trends.

Exemplary interpersonal skills that support engaging approaches for working with diverse audiences including adults, families, children, teachers, schools, and community organizations are imperative.

Strong ability to write scholarly and grammatically correct content with the aptitude to research and analyze various sources of information and documents.

Superior organizational and administrative skills with thorough attention to detail.

Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Exceptional time management, problem-solving, and analytic skills with the aptitude to assess priorities, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.

Competent in utilizing technology to deliver a variety of virtual content and programming.
