The Ohio Hotel & Lodging Association (OHLA) has just completed its 130th continuous year of service to hotels across the state. In 2024, we are activating an already-existing OHLA arm to provide a local chapter for hotels in the City of Cleveland. The purpose is to provide a forum specifically for hotels in the Cleveland city limits, and a way for them to collaborate on programs, projects and initiatives.

This organizational meeting will help us launch the new chapter by approving governance documents and electing officers of the Cleveland Hotel Association. You can view the draft bylaws here in advance. All eligible members will have the opportunity to vote on the organizational documents at the meeting on January 30.

All eligible and interested hotel leaders within the City of Cleveland are also encouraged to seek election to an officer position to help guide our discussions going forward. Details of officer positions and terms are included in the draft bylaws document, or contact joe@ohla.org for more information.

OHLA’s Greater Cleveland Lodging Council will continue and will work side-by-side with the new city chapter. That Council includes hotels throughout Cuyahoga County and surrounding counties. This structure is still important for regional issues which extend beyond the city.

Hotels interested in a city chapter are already working on a hiring fair event on February 22. Join us to discuss the final preparations for this exciting opportunity involving a growing number of employers.

Additional topics to be covered at this or subsequent local association meetings include:

-Issues specific to hotel businesses in the City of Cleveland.

-Updates on legislative and regulatory issues impacting hotels. Give input on proposals that can impact your business and our economy.

-Education & training opportunities. Including career-building national certifications, skills accelerators for new employees & recruits, OHLA's Education & Training Fund, and more.

-Solutions from partners serving the hotel industry. From affordable health care coverage for employees to new technologies to assist staffing & operations.

-More ways to engage associates, build leadership skills and impact our industry. OHLA and CHA provide numerous working groups, committees and networks working on numerous industry initiatives.

-Hotel market supply updates. Get the latest hotel pipeline update for the Cleveland region and all of Ohio, provided by OHLA Allied Member, Newmark
