OHLA’s team of lobbyists, lawyers, and staff are committed to working at the local, state, and national level to produce favorable outcomes for the hospitality industry in public policy. OHLA protects the interest of hotel and lodging businesses, their employees, and our economy as a whole. OHLA keeps our industry at the forefront of discussions and action on many landmark issues that create an environment for businesses to grow.
Improve the Service and Professionalism of Your Staff
OHLA recognizes that your employees, whether front or back of house, are your greatest asset. As such, membership in OHLA offers a multitude of opportunities for your employees to achieve certifications and continued education for professional development. OHLA works closely with the American Hotel & Lodging Education Institute (AHLEI) to bring you the most up-to-date training opportunities for hospitality employees. Scholarship opportunities from OHLA’s Education & Training Fund (EFT) are available to all member properties.

Hotel and lodging properties are part the entire hospitality industry, and the larger business community. OHLA forms powerful alliances within our own industry, but also with other partners that share our goals of supporting economic growth, competitiveness and jobs. We work closely with other travel-related entities to help make Ohio a leading destination to visit, do business in, and move to. We support the efforts increase effective destination marketing through local convention and visitors bureaus and through TourismOhio, the State of Ohio’s travel and tourism marketing arm.

Through its diverse Allied Member program with companies that support the hospitality industry, OHLA is able to provide the resources and professional connections that will support and help grow your business. You can find authorative answers to many questions quickly from OHLA’s resource center and materials in our OHLA Store. Lodging professionals can also engage locally though OHLA lodging councils, and make connections and friendships that will last a lifetime through programs like Women in Lodging and our Under 30 Gateway for young professionals.

Unique Lodging of Ohio (ULO) Membership
The Unique Lodging of Ohio (ULO) community is a sector of OHLA. Members of ULO are intendent hotels, motels, inns, B&Bs, and cabins – truly, unique lodging. Membership to OHLA for our ULO community also includes membership to the American Hotel & Lodging Association and the benefits provided at a national level. The ULO community is an important resource for new and established innkeepers alike.
