National Human Trafficking Prevention Month highlights the critical role hotels play in protecting vulnerable individuals and supporting safe communities. As front-line service providers, hoteliers and staff are uniquely positioned to recognize warning signs and respond appropriately. Through training, clear protocols, and partnerships with local organizations and law enforcement, hotels can help prevent exploitation before it escalates. Active hotelier involvement not only saves lives but also reinforces the industry’s commitment to responsibility, trust, and guest safety. #WearBlueDay is January 11 

Stopping human trafficking starts with understanding it. Join us on January 11, 2026, National Human Trafficking Awareness Day (#WearBlueDay), to learn the facts, end the misconceptions, and start the conversation. 

Post pictures of you and your staff wearing blue to show your support in the fight to eliminate human and labor trafficking. Be sure to tag OHLA (@ohiolodging), DHS (@DHSBlueCampaign) and use the hashtag #WearBlueDay.  

 


Volunteer to be an Anti-Trafficking Champion  

Identify an anti-trafficking champion from your property/company and allow us to better engage with you, provide the latest developments, facilitate property-wide training, and create connections to local collaboratives.

Sign Up for an Anti-Trafficking Training  

Set time aside for 30-minute lodging-specific training, plus time for conversation and questions (a maximum of 1 hour). Each attendee will receive an informational packet, among other resources.  

Companies/properties that are interested will be responsible for the following:    

Meeting space and conducive set-up for the number of attendees.  

Project and screen for presentation.  

Optional food and beverages/refreshments. 

Communication to and recruitment of associates to attend.
